Kiwanis of Lafayette thanks Rob Perillo, Chief Meteorol0gist with KATC TV, for speaking to us today. Rob has been a trusted source for weather news in Acadiana for almost 30 years.
Rob first spoke to the last week's historic flooding event that continues to affect many in North Louisiana and along the Sabine and Pearl Rivers. Rising waters have forced the closure of Interstate 10 at the state line and the state police are suggesting that the highway may remained closed for as long as one week.
Rob spent the second half of his time with us discussing the future of our South Louisiana wetlands. He listed several threats to our coastline, some naturally occurring (hurricanes, floods, subsidence) and some as a consequence of man-made activities (levees and dredging). He also discussed some of the possible approaches to these threats.
Thank you Rob for your always informative discussions!
