Home Bank Helps grant awarded

Lafayette, La. – Home Bank’s employee giving program, Home Bank Helps,
granted funds to 15 area nonprofits in 2020. A new initiative for the
bank’s Acadiana staff, the program allowed nonprofits to apply for grant
funds. Home Bank staff selected grantees that could benefit from the
funds, resulting in donations to groups like Kiwanis Club of Lafayette.

Kiwanis Club of Lafayette Foundation plans to initiate a reading incentive
program with their grant funds to benefit elementary and middle school
students in Lafayette Parish. The program will be called “Rewards for
Reading.” Kiwanis is modeling its program after a similar project started
by a Kiwanis Club in Jefferson Parish, which has grown to extend to every
public school student in Jefferson Parish. The program will allow students
to earn tickets for each book read, and students will be awarded prizes
for their participation.

Other organizations benefitting from Home Bank Helps grants in Acadiana in
2020 include: Rotary Club of Lafayette, Foster the Love Louisiana,
Acadiana Animal Aid, Living Hope Inc., Down Syndrome Association of
Acadiana, Colors for a Cause, Elderly Love Project, Red Bird Ministries
Inc., Louisiana Folk Roots, Children’s Museum of Acadiana, Heartstrings &
Angel Wings, Maddie’s Footprints, Hospice of Acadiana Foundation, and
Acadiana Outreach Center.

The next Home Bank Helps grant cycle will take place in spring of 2021.
Local nonprofits and schools will be able to apply on Home Bank’s website
at www.home24bank.com.
