Kiwanis of Lafayette thanks Greg Davis, Executive Director of the Cajundome, for speaking to us today.
Mr. Davis' discussion focused on the $22 million interior renovation to the Cajundome. This is the most significant improvements to the facility in its 30 years in operation.
Among the most significant changes are that the sideline seating will be moved closer and made permanent. This will result in a loss of approximately 10,000 square feet of floor space, but will allow for the addition more than 1000 new seats.
All seating in the facility will be removed and replaced and the interior will also receive a new color scheme. The current lighting system will also be replaced with LED lights that will result in a significant reduction in the utility expense.
Mr. Davis identified that the funds for this project have been secured from hotel and motel taxes. The project should be complete for December 1, 2016.
Thanks again to Greg Davis, for your informative discussion.
