As a district court judge, Marilyn Castle has fought for efficiency and accountability. She has presided over criminal, civil, juvenile and domestic matters. She begins court early and on time. She is respectful of jurors’ time and manages cases efficiently.

Marilyn led the change in her court’s criminal case allotment from a rotating judge system, to a system that ensures the same judge will remain on a case from arrest through sentencing, which increased efficiency and accountability.

For over seventeen years as a trial judge, Marilyn has crafted sentences that prioritized public safety while also incentivizing offenders to change behavior.

“Louisiana must have high standards in all branches of our government. The judicial branch must ensure that the laws and Constitution of our state are upheld and followed by all courts of our state. People need to have trust and confidence in our legal system. These are the principles that have guided me as a district judge and will continue to guide me as your Supreme Court Justice.”
