The mission of Special Olympics Louisiana is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

We provide sports training and athletic competitions and we transform lives through the 298393_10151260904128783_889134380_njoy of sport, everyday, everywhere. Currently, 14,235 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Louisiana participate in over approximately 100 competitions. We are also a global social movement. With  initiatives to activate youth, engage kids with and without intellectual disabilities, build communities, and improve the health of our athletes – we’re changing the game for people young and old.
