Bienvenus chez nous autres!

As you know, Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers, dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Last week, New Orleans was the site of the annual Kiwanis International Convention, where Kiwanians from all over the world came to share fun and fellowship with those from different cultures, all having one common trait - the desire to help the children of the world. As South Louisiana and our club in particular have strong ties to the French, we arranged for several Kiwanians coming from the France-Monaco District to make Lafayette a part of their pre-convention tour of Louisiana. Thanks to the generous hospitality of hosts Kirk and Brenda Piccione, our club treated our francophone visitors to a beautiful reception at the Piccione home. Our Parish President/City Mayor presented them all with certificates making them honorary citizens of Lafayette, and they had a wonderful dinner with wine, jambalaya, crab cakes and other local specialties provided by club member Ema Haq, owner of Bailey's restaurant.

We would also like to thank Philippe Gustin and the staff of Le Centre International, Mayor/President Durel and his staff, and Gerald Breaux and the LCVC staff for all of their hard work making this event such a tremendous success. Collaborations like this are one of the things that makes Lafayette such a wonderful place to live, work and play.
