Kiwanis of Lafayette thanks Allison Bourne-Vanneck, Community Liaison for Miles Perret Cancer Services, for speaking to us today.
Allison is a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands who came to Louisiana as a member of the KATC news team. She is a former Miss Virgin Islands, competing in the 2006 Miss America Pageant.
Allison spoke to us about the myriad of ways Miles Perret Cancer Services fulfills its mission to help citizens of Acadiana who are being treated for cancer. Since opening its doors in 2002, MPCS has helped more than 12,000 Acadiana families with support, guidance and resources.
Allison also talked about each of MPCS’s unique services, including Mobile Miles, where resources are brought to persons in the 10 parish area outside of Lafayette. She also talked about the upcoming Games of Acadiana, an annual fun day, set for August 20, 2016. More than 10,000 people participated in last year’s event.
