Every year on a Saturday in April, Kiwanis Clubs all over the world go out in our communities for "Kiwanis One Day" This year, April 5 was the Kiwanis One Day, and the Lafayette Kiwanis Club worked on our playgrounds and cleaned up our favorite park - Girard Park (where we helped build Parc Independence). We started at Mouton Park, and the brand new playground that we helped fund along with the Junior League of Lafayette. Wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes & pitchforks were in full force to add more wood chips under the play area where settlement had occurred.
After the Mouton Park work was finished, we moved to Girard Park, and joined several Key Club members from Lafayette High School and did a "park pickup" cleaning the park and the lake of trash and debris. Of course, Jim Richard was there with plenty of hamburgers and hot dogs to satisfy all the appetites. All in all, a great One Day of Fellowship, Food and FUN. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great project!
