Kiwanis Spelling Champion chosen to sit on stage!

One Speller from each state is selected by the Scripps team to sit on stage for the finals (regardless of how well they do).  Our speller, Damien Handy representing Scott Middle School was selected to represent Louisiana.  Congratulations Damien – we wish you the best! In about one week, our Kiwanis Spelling Champion Damien Handy will take the stage to compete in the 86th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. Kiwanis Spelling Champion Heads to Washington

Congratulations to the winner of the 2013 Kiwanis Regional Spelling Bee, Damien Handy of Scott Middle School (center), who leaves Sunday to represent Acadiana at the National Spelling Bee. Damien appeared on Good Morning Acadiana this morning and participated in a live bee against Tracy Wirtz and Dave Baker – a great time was had by all. One Special Day of Kiwanis Service
