LAFAYETTE AREAWIDE Kiwanis Spelling Bee
Thank you for taking interest in our spelling bee. The Kiwanis Club of Lafayette and the Kiwanis Club of Acadiana are joining together to bring back this great event after a 2-year hiatus. Here is some information for you and your schools about registering for our bee:
The Kiwanis bee is held in association with the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and registration is handled through the Scripps website.
-
The bee will be held Saturday March 13, 2010 at the Diocese of Lafayette Immaculata Center, 1408 Carmel Avenue in Lafayette. Registration will be Saturday morning from 8:00 - 8:50, and the bee will begin at 9:00.
-
We will have bees in 3 grade divisions: 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade, and 7-8 grade. The winner of our 7-8 grade bee will represent our 8 parishes in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Airfare, hotel and spending money will be provided by the hosting Kiwanis Clubs for the winner and 1 parent or accompanying adult.
-
Schools can send 1 bee winner from each grade division.
-
Schools that register for the Kiwanis bee must complete their own local bee in their school by February 21, 2010 and send in the name of their champion(s).
If you have registered for the bee...
Register your school champion by February 21 at the Scripps website at www.spellingbee.com, or contact Kevin Domingue at 337-654-3822 if you have any questions. Good luck !
